MediaConnect took the wraps off its Tech Marketing e-magazine and website, which debuts with a cover feature analysing the impact the economic crisis is having on local tech marketing budgets.

MediaConnect conducted a poll that was answered by more than 40 Australian tech marketing managers, which found that around half would experience cuts to their budget next year. However, if the poll is any guide the damage may not be as great as many are fearing - just one respondent predicted that their budget would be cut significantly. Around a third of marketers who responded to the survey said they expected their budgets to hold steady while 20 per cent were looking forward to an increase despite the current weak financial environment.

Other stories in the debut include a profile on IT channel marketing 'rocknrolla' Nick Verykios and a case study which examined how Intel and Spectrum Communications managed a big launch event that conflicted with the Pope's recent visit to Sydney.

The e-magazine was mailed yesterday to more than 500 IT marketing managers, with MediaConnect aiming to grow that to over a thousand over the course of the first quarter. All MediaConnect subscribers were also included in the mail-out. The e-magazine will initially be bi-monthly while the companion website will be updated daily with news and contributed columns.

"We've had a wonderful response to the debut issue of Tech Marketing and the website and we believe it will be a valuable resource for the Australian tech marketing community," said Tech Marketing publisher Tamara Jawad.

"Our goal is to make Tech Marketing the hub of the Australian technology marketing industry and develop a vibrant and interactive community."

MediaConnect is offering six advertising slots, which will include a button on every page of the Tech Marketing website and a third page or two-third page ad in the e-magazine. Interested parties should contact Tamara Jawad on (02) 9894 6277 or tamara@mediaconnect.com.au.
